Salmon Bay FC Wins USL-W National Championship
The World Cup was not the only title game in soccer recently. Salmon Bay FC based in Seattle, Washington won the United Soccer League women’s title over Vermont Green FC 6-4.
The USL-W is a professional women’s soccer league with 96 clubs throughout the United States. The league allows elite collegiate players to compete at a high level while retaining their NCAA eligibility.
After a 1-1 match through 120 minutes, the Coho prevailed in their third penalty shootout in as many weeks, with 17-year old backup center back Kaya Singh burying the clinching penalty kick in the sixth round.

Salmon Bay won the Northwest Division title with a record of 9-2-1 for 29 points. In the playoffs they won some games in dramatic fashion. They beat the Colorado Storm in penalty kicks, Capo FC 3-0, Minnesota Aurora FC in penalty kicks and Vermont Green FC also in penalty kicks for their first title.
