USA Sweeps Ball Hockey Championships

The United States teams won another gold medal in hockey, this time it was in ball hockey as the USA men's team defeated Czechia 2-1 in overtime to capture their first gold meal at the International Street and Ball Hockey Federation (ISBHF) World Championships.  The USA Women's team also claimed the gold medal also defeating Czechia.  Brooklyn Schneiderhan redirected a rebound into the open net for the winning goal at 17:21 in the second period.

What is ball hockey?  

Ball hockey is a variation of ice hockey played on foot rather than on skates. It is typically played on a hard surface such as concrete, asphalt, or a specialized plastic tile court known as a "dek". Instead of a puck, participants use a specialized hard orange or pink plastic ball.

In the gold medal game, Czechia started the game well, but it was the United States who struck first. Thanks to a Czech goal by Tomáš Hudec in the 22nd minute, the score remained tied at 1–1 for a long stretch. The game eventually had to be decided in overtime, when the PJ Biagetti clinched it for the Americans on a two-on-one rush to secure the gold medal.

The USA men's team finished fourth in the group round with two wins and three losses behind Czechia, Canada and Slovakia.  They defeated Switzerland 5-1 in the quarterfinals then stunned Canada 4-3 in the semifinals.
