San Diego Smash punctuate late-season surge with inaugural AVP League title - Volleyballmag.com
Professional volleyball is back on the beach as eight men's and eight women's teams entered the beaches for the Association of Volleyball Professionals (AVP) team-based league. The teams are the Brooklyn (NY) Blaze, San Diego (CA) Smash, Los Angeles (CA) Launch, Palm Beach (FL) Passion, Miami (FL) Mayhem, Austin (TX) Aces, Dallas (TX) Dream and New York Nitro.

The eight-week schedule for the 2026 season:

Week 1 - Belmar, New Jersey (May 30-31)
Week 2 - Aspen, Colorado (TBD)
Week 3 - Miami, Florida (TBD)
Week 4 - Las Vegas, Nevada (TBD)
Week 5 - Los Angeles, California (TBD)
Week 6 - New York, New York (TBD)
Week 7 - East Hampton, New York (TBD)
Week 8 - Dallas, Texas (TBD)

The Palm Beach Passion won the AVP Cup title last season and will be defending their title.

The AVP League seems like a good idea but it will need to find some stability this season and increase attendance.  Beach volleyball is still a niche sport and I'm not sure many people still take the sand version of volleyball seriously but there are plenty of beachgoers who participate in the sport each summer.  Expect the AVP League to have a pivotal season this year to determine the future of the sport and possibility of expanding into other markets.
