Pro Lacrosse Leagues to Begin New Seasons


The eight-team Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) begins this weekend as well as four teams in the women's league.

The 2026 PLL season kicks off on Friday, May 8 with all games streaming on ESPN+. The 2026 WLL season begins on Saturday, May 16 with a rematch of the 2025 Championship Series final between New York Charging and Boston Guard at 5:30 p.m. on ESPN+ and Disney+.

ESPN will present the entire 2026 season of the Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) and the Women’s Lacrosse League (WLL) featuring 19 games across ABC, ESPN, ESPN2. All games will be streaming on the ESPN App. On Saturday, May 30, ABC will feature a 2025 PLL Championship rematch between the New York Atlas and Denver Outlaws at 1 p.m.

Internationally, the PLL and WLL seasons will be available to watch on TSN in Canada, and on Disney+ in select international markets across Asia, Australia and New Zealand, Europe, and Latin America.

The PLL will again put the same eight teams on the field in 2026:

Boston Cannons
Maryland Whipsnakes
New York Atlas
Philadelphia Waterdogs

Western Conference
California Redwoods
Carolina Chaos
Denver Outlaws
Utah Archers

The New York Atlas defeated the Denver Outlaws 14-13 to win the title in 2025.

Players to watch:  Based on the 2026 Premier Lacrosse League Draft and early season developments, top rookies and players to watch include Syracuse standout Joey Spallina (drafted by Maryland), versatile midfielder Mikey Weisshaar (Boston Cannons), and top midfield prospect Matt Collison. High-impact additions also include Silas Richmond and Aidan Maguire.

The WLL will have four teams in 2026:
Boston Guard
California Palms
Maryland Charm
New York Charging

The Boston Guard are the defending champions.  They defeated New York for the title in 2025.

Players to watch:  Based on early 2026 rankings, top women's lacrosse players to watch include UNC attacker Chloe Humphrey (Tewaaraton favorite), Northwestern's Madison Taylor (top scorer), and Boston College goalkeeper Shea Dolce. Other key collegiate stars for 2026 include Maryland's Kori Edmondson, Army's Brigid Duffy, and Michigan's Grace Callahan.
