UFA Ready for Takeoff

They’re back in the air!

The Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA) begins their 14th season this week with 22 teams playing a 12-game schedule.

After losing the Detroit Mechanix and Los Angeles Aviators during the offseason, the league is aligned in these four divisions for the 2026 season:

  • Central Division: Indianapolis Alley Cats, Madison Radicals,  Minnesota Wind Chill, Pittsburgh Thunderbirds, and Chicago Union.

  • East Division: Boston Glory, DC Breeze, Toronto Rush, Philadelphia Phoenix, New York Empire, and Montreal Royal.

  • West Division: Oregon Steel, Seattle Cascades, Colorado Apex, Oakland Spiders, and Salt Lake Shred.

  • South Division: Vegas Bighorns, Houston Havoc, San Diego Growlers, Carolina Flyers, Austin Sol, and Atlanta Hustle.

The Boston Glory won the championship last year and will look to repeat as UFA champions.

Here are some of the players to watch this summer:

Jeff Babbit (Boston Glory)

The two-time MVP has recorded 20-plus blocks in back-to-back seasons with Boston, and he remains as dominant as ever when given the chance to make plays downfield or punish defenses in the red zone.

Tobe Decraene (Boston Glory)

Tobe won Rookie of the Year (2024), league MVP (2025), Championship Weekend MVP and a championship with Boston (2025)

Daan De Marree (New York Empire)

De Marree excelled last year with his two-way versatility shine throughout his rookie campaign with Chicago last year, which included a seven-game stretch where he averaged over nine scores, two blocks, and close to 600 yards per game.

Walker Frankenberg (Oakland Spiders)

Frankenberg has been ascending as an individual standout alongside the team’s success in recent years. He’s the only player that reached 40 assists and 40 goals last season (including playoffs), and he finished third in the league in total yards while coming in fourth for plus/minus.
