Pro Roller Hockey League Returning?

An old professional roller hockey league is planning a revival next summer.  Roller Hockey International (RHI) which played from 1993-2001, may be returning in 2028 with ten teams to be based in Montreal, Quebec City, Vancouver, Minnesota, Chicago, Pittsburgh, Dallas, Tampa Bay, Los Angeles and Anaheim.

The rules in the RHI were similar to the NHL except the obvious difference of playing on a floor instead of ice.  The RHI had four players and a goalie.  Minor penalties were only a minute and a half as opposed to two minutes with major penalties four minutes instead of five.  There were also no blue lines and no offside; however, there were still illegal clearing and a different version of offside - a player could skate over the red line before the public; however, the player could not receive a pass over the line.  The puck in the RHI was lighter.  There were four 12-minute quarters opposed to the three, 20-minute periods in the NHL.  Players were inline skates instead of ice skates.

The original RHI grew to 24 teams 1994 and eventually played their final season in 1999 with 8 teams.

The Anaheim Bullfrogs were the most successful franchise in the RHI winning two titles and playing in four finals.
