Hound Dogs bring Arena Football to Memphis
Arena football will be returning to Memphis this year as the Memphis Hound Dogs become the newest expansion team in The Arena League (TAL).
This will be the city's third arena football team. The Memphis Pharaohs were the first team to bring arena football to the city, but they only lasted two seasons before moving to Portland. The Memphis Xplorers came next playing in AF2 league from 2001-2006 winning the ArenaCup in 2005.
The Hound Dogs will play their home games at the Memphis Sports and Events Center.
The Arena League will play their third season in 2026 with eight teams. Memphis will join Monroe (LA) and Grand Island (NE) as expansion teams. Other teams include Arkansas Diamonds, Eau Claire (WI) Axemen, Iowa Woo, Ozark (MO) Lunkers and St. Joseph (MO) Goats.
