Littler Wins World Darts Championship

The new World Champion in Darts is 17-year-old Luke Littler.  He became the youngest ever darts world champion on Friday when he swept past three-time winner Michael van Gerwen 7-3 in the final round to win the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) World Darts Championship in London.

Littler quickly built up a 4-0 lead and, though Van Gerwen came back to win three sets, the 35-year-old Dutchman, who had been the previously youngest ever world champion at 24 never really seemed able to challenge Littler.  Littler finished with an average score of 102.73 against Van Gerwen's 100.69 and hit 12 180s - the maximum score in a single turn.

Little resides in Warrington, Cheshire (England) and has been playing darts since 2017.  His "walk-on music" is Greenlight by Pitbull featuring Flo Rida and LunchMoney Lewis.
