European League of Football Enters Fourth Season
Europe's version of American football begins its fourth season this weekend as 17 teams from nine countries will participate and compete for the title in the European League of Football (ELF). The championship game will be played in Veltins-Arena Gelsenkirchen, Germany on September 22nd.
The teams will be divided into three conferences. Each team will play 12 regular season games. The winner of each conference and three wildcard teams will qualify for the playoffs.
Of the 17 teams which played last season, 15 are returning this season. ELF added the Madrid Bravos and the Helvetic Mercenaries from Switzerland replaces the Helvetic Guards.

The Rhein Fire are the defending champions. They defeated the Stuttgart Surge 53-34 for the 2023 title. Rhein is again expected to dominate the ELF. As the defending champions, the Rhein Fire enters the new season with big signings during the offseason.
