Indoor Football Season Kicks Off

Two indoor football leagues have started their 2024 seasons and another will begin their season this weekend.

The American Indoor Football (AIF) is a lower-tier league but got their season started with a preseason game last week when the Amarillo Venom dismantled the Oklahoma Grove 82-26.  Three games are on the schedule this week.  The AIF has been revamped from previous seasons and opens with six teams - Amarillo (TX) Venom, Columbus (GA) Lions,  Cedar Rapids (IA) River Kings, Corpus Christi (TX) Tritons, Harrisburg (PA) Stampede and Mississippi Raiders.

The National Arena League (NAL) also had some preseason games against non-league opponents last weekend but get into their schedule this weekend.  The NAL enters the season with six teams.  The league had a few teams depart for other leagues while gaining others.  This year's lineup includes:  Colorado Spartans, Idaho Falls (IA) Horsemen, Sioux City Bandits, Carolina Cobras, Oklahoma Flying Aces and Omaha Beef.

The 16-team Indoor Football League (IFL) gets things started this weekend with two games on the schedule.  The Arizona Rattlers will play at Northern Arizona Wranglers on Saturday.  The Green Bay Bombers will host a Sunday game against the Massachusetts Pirates.

I will try to keep you updated regularly on the indoor football leagues throughout the season.  My goal is to post the league standings each week along with any noteworthy stories from each league.

This year's league lineup includes:

  • Arena Football League
  • Indoor Football League
  • American Indoor Football
  • National Arena League
  • The Arena League
  • American Arena League
