Pro Frisbee League Changes Name

The American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL) is evolving.  After 12 seasons, the league will now be known as the Ultimate Frisbee Association (UFA).  Over the past decade, the league has grown to 24 teams and has over 1.5 million followers on social media.  The league, which is owned by sports investor Rob Lloyd and his family have entered into a long-term licensing agreement with Sport Dimension Inc. which owns the trademark to the Frisbee name.  Although the sport has been known as "ultimate", the league could not legally use the term "frisbee" in its name until now.  The rebranded league will also use a new disc for official league games which will be the "Professional Ultimate Frisbee".  The new disc will be used for all games starting in 2024.

The UFA also unveiled a new logo that features a silhouette of a player laying out for a disc.

The UFA, which currently has teams located in the United States and Canada, is also looking toward global expansion to China, India, Latin America and the Middle East.  There is also a push to add the sport to the Olympics.

The 2024 UFA schedule will be officially released in February with opening weekend planned for April 2024.  The league's 13th title weekend, now called the UFA Championship, will be hosted by Zions Bank Stadium in Salt Lake City, Utah on August 23-24.
