Montreal Upsets Winnipeg in Grey Cup


The Montreal Alouettes scored a touchdown with 13 second left to stun the Winnipeg Blue Bombers 28-24 in the 110th Grey Cup final.

Winnipeg lost their second straight Grey Cup and have played in the past four finals.

Montreal quarterback Cody Fajardo's 19-yard touchdown pass to Tyson Philpot was the game winner and the Alouette's first Grey Cup title since 2010 and their eighth overall.

Fajardo finished 21-of-26 passing for 290 yards with three TDs and an interception.

Dakota Prukop's four-yard run at 9:32 of the fourth put Winnipeg ahead 24-21. It came after Fajardo staked Montreal to a 21-17 lead - its first of the game - with a 13-yard touchdown pass to Austin Mack at 3:48. Read more details about the game here

Montreal finished the regular season at 11-7 in the East Division then defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats 27-12 in the Division Semifinals.  The Alouettes upended defending Grey Cup champions, Toronto Argonauts, 38-17 in the East Division final.

This year's Grey Cup was one of the most viewed since 2019.  Next year's Grey Cup will be played in Vancouver.
