New Golf League to Start in 2024

Six teams have been announced to play in the Tech Golf League (TGL) next year. The league features a high-tech indoor course. Over 20 current PGA stars have committed to the league's first season set to start on January 9th in Palm Beach, Florida. The league has been formed by Tiger Woods, Rory McIlroy and sports media executive Mike McCarley.

So how will this work?

The TGL will feature six teams of three PGA Tour players competing on giant golf simulators paired with a tech-enabled short-game complex and all housed inside of a purpose-built arena.  Players will compete across 18 holes of head-to-head matchplay and each team will play five matches over a 15-week regular season followed by playoff matches. Matches will be televised live on ESPN in front of a studio audience inside the SoFi Center on the campus of Palm State College in Florida.  The teams include Atlanta, Boston, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York and another to be announced soon.  Atlanta Falcons and United owner Arthur Blank owns the Atlanta franchise while NBA start Steph Curry is co-owner of the San Francisco franchise.

The simulator is called Full-Swing which is licensed by the PGA Tour.  Full Swing’s state-of-the-art simulators will power virtual courses, displayed on a giant simulator screen measuring 64ft x 46ft. Once greenside, players will transition from the simulator to 15ft x 27ft virtual greens equipped with 189 actuators and jacks to dynamically alter slopes and gradients. Other tech innovations include practice simulators and a touchscreen monitor-based virtual caddy system.
