European Pro Football League Kicks Off Season

The European League of Football (ELF) is back for its third season with 17 teams spread across Europe.  The ELF is an organized attempt to establish a professional American football league in Europe.

During the off-season, the league added six new teams in Paris (France), Helvetic (Switzerland), Milano (Italy), Munich (Germany), Fehervar (Hungary) and Prague (Czech Republic).  The league also announced that they will also have a team in Madrid (Spain) in 2024.

The Vienna Vikings won last years' title defeating the Hamburg Sea Devils, 27-15.

Each team will play 12 games with two bye weeks the regular season will end the first week of September. The leaders of each conference and the best second will qualify for the playoffs and the final will be held at Duisburg’s SV stadium with a capacity for more than 30.000 people with over half the tickets already sold.

Barcelona's Zachary Edwards led the league in passing with 3,325 yards.  Edwards will play for the new Paris team in 2023. Glen Toonga of Hamburg had 1,468 yards rushing as the leading rusher.  On defense, Berlin's Kyle Kitchens was number one in the ELF with 16 sacks while Goran Zec of Stuttgart topped the league with six interceptions.
