Champions Indoor Football Crowns Omaha Beef

The Omaha Beef had three touchdowns by quarterback Tommy Armstrong to lead his team to the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) championship in Champions Bowl VIII over the Salina Liberty 50-30.  It was the second title in three seasons for the Beef.

Armstrong threw a 42-yard touchdown pass and ran for two other scores in the game.

The Beef led 17-12 at halftime, and Traveon Samuel returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown. He took the ball at the goal line, ran up the middle, then cut to the left sideline for the 23-12 lead.

The Beef became the first team in CIF history to go undefeated.  They finished the regular season at 10-0 then blew past the Billings Outlaws 42-6 in the semifinals to get to the Champions Bowl.

The Beef, which began play in 2000, are now 2-2 in Champions Bowl games and have tied the Duke City Gladiators with most Champion Bowl titles.
