New Pro Women's League Planned for 2024

The United Soccer League (USL) announced that they are planning to launch a new women's professional soccer league called USL Super League in August 2024 which will play on the international match schedule from fall to summer.

The league announced the initial eight markets that would be participating in their inaugural season, with an additional five that would be joining in later seasons, pending stadium projects. They also announced that they would be intending to launch as a first division league, as opposed to second division as had been previously announced. The proposed divisional change would increase the minimum costs and standards for teams, market sizes, and staff, and would make the USL Super League the second top-division professional women's football league in the United States alongside the NWSL.  The Super League will be at the top of the USL youth-to-pro pyramid, one level above the USL W league.

Initial markets planned are:  Charlotte (NC), Dallas (TX), Lexington (KY), Phoenix (AZ), Spokane (WA), Tampa (FL), Tucson (AZ) and Washington (DC).  Future teams are planned for; Chattanooga (TN), Indianapolis (IN), Jacksonville (FL), Madison (WI) and Oakland (CA).

The new league will be competition to the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) which currently has 12 teams.
