Paris Picks Name for ELF Team

The Paris Saints is the name chosen for teams newest European League of Football (ELF) franchise.  The name was chosen over other suggestions such as Frogs, Towers, Musketeers, Gladiators and Knights which ends the five month search.

The Paris Saints will use the ‘Fleur-de-lis’ as the primary symbol in their logo. This symbol has been a traditional emblem of French royalty since the fifth century. Displaying a stylized lily or lotus flower, the emblem has represented peace, war, politics, religion, royalty, and so much more. The symbol originated with French monarchs, dating all the way back to the baptismal lily used during the crowning of King Clovis I in 509.

The Paris Saints along with the other 16 teams in the European League of Football are set to kick off on Saturday, June 3.  They will be grouped in the Western Conference with the Cologne Centurions, Frankfurt Galaxy, Hamburg Sea Devils and Rhein Fire.

The ELF will play their third season as the premier league in American Football in Europe.

Former Vanderbilt Commodores' defensive secondary coach Marc Mattioni will be the Saints' head coach.
