Vienna Vikings Win Europe's American Football Championship

The European League of American Football (ELF) completed its second season as the Vienna Vikings defeated the Hamburg Sea Devils 27-15 in front of 10,873 fans at Wörthersee Stadion in Klagenfurt, Austria.  It was Vienna's first title (last year) while Hamburg finished runner-up for the second straight season.

The Vikings pulled away late in the third quarter with a 6-play, 61-yard drive when Florian Wegan scored on a 1-yard run with 4:46 left to that a 24-9 lead.

Vienna quarterback Jackson Erdmann completed 20-of-25 passes for 253 yards.  Wide Receiver Kimi Linnainmaa was named the game's Most Valuable Player.  He had seven receptions for 125 yards.  He also threw a touchdown pass for the first score.

The Vienna Vikings have played the American-version of football since 1983.  They have won 15 Austrian Bowl titles.  This was their first season in the ELF.
