Women's Football Alliance Crowns Champions

One team continued their dynasty while another one their first title in last weekend's championship games in the Women's Football Alliance (WFA) played at Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

The Boston Renegades claimed their fourth straight championship trophy with a 32-12 dominating win over the Minnesota Vixen.

Tytti Kuusinen opened the scoring for the Renegades in the first quarter with a rushing touchdown and from then on, they never looked back. The Renegades would end the half of 20-0 thanks to scores by Chanté Bonds and Ruth Matta, and after a scoreless third quarter, Katie Falkowski scored to make it 26-0 in the fourth.

The Vixen did manage to get on the board in the fourth, cutting the Renegade's lead to just 20 points, but Bonds shut down any hope of a comeback with her second touchdown of the game with just over minutes left. Bonds, who was filling in for starting quarterback and 2022 MVP Allison Cahill, ended the day with 127 rushing yards and two touchdowns, including a 39-yard rushing score.

This was their 7th championship and extended their winning streak to 31 games.

Boston finished the season at 9-0.  They defeated the D.C. Divas in the quarterfinals and beat the Pittsburgh Passion in the semifinals.

The Mile High Blaze from Aurora, Colorado won their first title as they edged the Derby City Dynamite, 21-20 for the Division II title.

Mile High Quarterback Kimberly Santistevan threw three touchdown passes for the Blaze.  Two of Santistevan’s touchdown passes plus a pivotal two-point conversion went to wideout Smooth Lowery-Jones and the game-winning touchdown was hauled in by wideout Stephanie Skinner.

The Blaze finished the season with a (7-1) record.  They defeated the Austin Outlaws (16-0) and Houston Energy (12-6) to get to the title game.

The Division III title was won by the Oklahoma City Force who shutout the Capital City Savages, 25-0.  OKC finished the season undefeated at 9-0.  They knocked off Iowa Phoenix (33-6) and Arizona Outkast (24-2) in the playoffs.
