Would You Believe Tazer Ball?

I'm wondering who thought it was a good idea to propose a sports league involving tasers.   Believe it or not there was an attempt to start up Ultimate Tazer Ball (UTB) in 2012.  The UTB featured two teams attempting to get a 24-inch ball into their opponent's goal while stun gun devices.  The 4-on-4 game was played on a rectangular field similar to an indoor soccer field.  Players were allowed to use stun guns on opposing players who had possession of the ball. The stun devices gave a 3 to 5 millamp charge which was not lethal but enough to cause a muscle spasm.

It was expected that players would get jolted an average of 35-40 times per game but not enough to cause longterm damage.

Crazy idea right?

The league's four teams were the Toronto Terror, Philly Killawats, San Diego Spartans and Los Angeles Nighthawks.

The first - and only - UTB tournament was played in January 2012.  The league never really took off and that's probably a good thing.  The league could not secure a television contract or funding to get started.

Check out a YouTube video about this league:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sOJSwcKlroc

Film and TV star Ashton Kutcher was even quoted saying "It is awesome" when asked about the league.
