Tag...You're It! Ever Wanted to Play Professional Tag?
Perhaps the first game we all learned to play in recess was chase or tag.
Did you know you could go pro playing chase?
Yes, this is a thing now with World Chase Tag (WCT) which is an international championship being broadcast on NBCSN. The sport's slogan is: "Keep Chasing and Don't Get Caught".
Here are the rules for WCT:
- Two teams with no more than six players
- Each game consists of 16 rounds lasting 20 seconds.
- Tags count only by hand.
- For each round, there is a chaser from one team and an evader from the other.
- The player who wins a round stays on to evade in the next round and the losing player is replaced by a teammate who becomes the chaser.
- When a player successfully evades a tag over the full 20-second round, their team scores one point.
- The game is won by the team with the most points out of the 16 rounds.
- If a player steps out of the playing area, their team loses the round.
The WCT was founded in 2011 by Christian and Damien Devaux after a game of tag between Christian and his son in their backyard. The brothers started working on designing a course and creating the playing area and rules.
There are only two WCT-affiliated spaces - called parkours - in the United States. They are located in Washington, DC and Philadelphia.
The 2021 United Kingdom Championship was played on December 5th and will air on ESPN2 on December 12th and 19th.

So, yes, you can go pro in chase/tag. I wouldn't be surprised to see an Olympic sport for this in the future.
Let me know when they have professional duck-duck-goose.
