Calanda Broncos win 11th Swiss Bowl Title
They are the Alabama of Switzerland. The Calanda Broncos continued their dominance of American football in Switzerland by defeating the Bern Grizzlies 21-12 in Basel on Saturday to win their 10th title in 12 years.
Leading 7-6 in the second quarter, Calanda drove down the field to score with 22 seconds left and converted a two-point conversion for a 15-6 lead at halftime then scored on their first possession of the second half to extend their lead to 21-6. The Broncos' defense took over from there as both defenses dominated the game. Bern later blocked a field goal and returned it 80 yards for a touchdown in the final five minutes of the game but could not get any closer to dethrone the Swiss champs.

Calanda was the top-seed in the playoffs and defeated Winterthur 35-8 in the semifinals. Bern edged Geneva 21-16 in their semifinal game.
American football in Switzerland is divided between two leagues with the top six teams competing in the Nationalliga A (NLA).

Calanda has a record of 11-5 in Swiss Bowl games with their last loss coming to Bern in the 2017 title game where they lost 42-35 in that game. They have played in each Swiss Bowl since 2009.
